Click to enlarge photo. The mountain at the top is Pioneer Peak about 30 miles down the Old Glen Highway from our place. The snow you see is where the the slide occurred during the 1964 Earthquake. A women, living below the slide heard the rumble, put her kids in the car and backed out of her driveway just in time as the slide took her house and a swath of tree down to the Knik River.
The mountain on the bottom is Bear Mountain or otherwise know as "Our Mountain" My family lived in front of it for 34 years.

Spent the winter outside and the moved back to Alaska where my parents bought 2 and 1/2 acres with a cabin on. That Summer 1956 my Dad built our home that we lived in til 1964.
Starting the 9th grade we were bussed into Central Junior downtown Anchorage. In November of 1959 we drove out and spent the winter Minneapolis. I attend Patrick Henry til we moved back to Chugiak. In January 1961 we went back to Brooklyn Center where I attended Robbinsdale Senior High School.
We went back to Alaska whereby I graduated from East Anchorage High School in May of 1963

Mike and I spent four years in the Bay area. One of the things I got to go to was a Joan Baez concert at the Civic Center. I remember her giving the audience five minutes to take photos and when that time was up no more photos. I thought that was really a great idea.
This is the place where I heard Carlos Montoya (Classical and Flamingo Guitar Player) and folk singer Pete Seeger.
Mt. Alyeska... A beautiful sunny Spring day doing my favorite thing. My cousin Joannie took this picture. We are midway down the mountain taking a break.

A special very place for me. We lived a quarter of a mile from this lake. It provided lots of fun for us in the summer as well as the winter. We had our baths in this lake as well as swimming.
Across the lake you can see the Boy Scout Camp. As teenagers we had an old red boat that we used to take across the lake so we could use their nice metal boats and canoes. Our red boat leaked so we need three people to go....two to row and one t0 bail!
In the winter, we skated on the lake. To keep warm we built a fire out of the spruce trees. The sap would almost explode the tree and the fire would soar up really high. We skated at night and when there was a moon out we had plenty of light to skate by.
