New Years Poem
Happy New Year Wish
My Happy New Year wish for you
Is for your best year yet,
A year where life is peaceful,
And what you want, you get.
A year in which you cherish
The past year's memories,
And live your life each new day,
Full of bright expectancies.
I wish for you a holiday
With happiness galore;
And when it's done, I wish you
Happy New Year, and many more.

Orchids
I worked for Rod McClellan Acres of Orchids in South San Francisco in 1977-78. It was a very interesting place to work. They made Queen Elizabeth's Coronation bouquet when she was crowned Queen of England. They were the first to make gardenia corsages by opening the petals in warm water. They had 5 acres of roses. They had miniatures for $1.50 and regular roses $3.00 they would allow employees to buy. I bought flower every Friday.
The Orchid
Do you know what an orchid is? Well they are Monocotyledons. Monocotyledons are one of the groups of flowering plants. There are more than five hundred species of orchids found in the Amazon basin. I will tell you all about what an orchid is.
There are about 15,000 to 25,000 different types of orchids. Orchid is a common name for any of a world-wide group of flowering plants. There are more orchids found in the rainforest than any biome. Since most orchids are found in the wild, biologists haven't identified all these amazing plants.
All orchid must grow on pedicels or stalks. During the growth of the flower, the pedicel rotates 180 degrees. This causes the mature flower to be grown upside-down. Orchids grow on tree branches, trunks or rocks.
